Ralphies Food?

I have a three year old Bulldog named Ralph. He was weened onto Purina One lamb and rice by his breeder. I felt his gas was really an issue and he didnt take alot of joy in eating his food. So we changed it to Ekanuba Lamb and Rice which made his gas and overall odor smell really bad. Our vet put him on a prescription food which I believe was a low ash food??? I dont recall, the food just got really expensive as he got older and we switched him to Purina Beneful. He has thrown up more with that food, although it definelty helped his odor and he seems to enjoy the food.

Basically, We have a smelly loveable Bulldog, and I cant decide what the best food to try next with him. Im looking to hear what everyone else might be using???

Also Ralphie constantly does butt spins on the floor doing a little dance that appears that he is scratching his butt. We get his anal glands supressed and clean his butt out frequently, but he constantly does that as well.
Please help us!!

Re: Ralphies Food?

I Don't know how much you have researched the dog food industry? But, let me say all food is not the same. In my opinon purina is junk. made from low quality protien sources. Try a high quality food like wellness, nutro, natural balance or ask at your pet supply store. In general any food you can get from a super market is junk.

The tail pocket can trap hair and gunk...

a technical term...that makes them uncomfortable. We clean our guys every day and pull out clumps of hair. That might be what's making him spin.

proplan sensitive skin and stomache

is great. no gas at all and my guys love it

We use Royal Canine

Duke prefers it moist, it has helped with the gas problems and it seems to be helping with tear stains.
You can get this at Petsmart/Petco.

Whats a tail pocket, between his tail and his anus? I would say yes, the vet said moisture gets caught in their very easily and it needs to be cleaned frequently to avoi cutting his tail off so it doesnt get infected.

We feed...

California Natural lamb and rice and also the Natural Balance foods are good. Natural balance is available at Petco stores and Ca Natural we have to buy at a feed store. Also Wellness is a good brand. Does he have a tail pocket? That might be why he spins.
