Questions about rescue dog

we have a one year old English bulldog, male unneutered, whom we love very much, but recently my wife and I have taken interest in adopting a rescue bulldog.
Any advice as to sex or age that would be best suited for our household now.
We have a fenced in backyard and our male is pottytrained. We live in northeast Ohio

Why would they care about neuter.

My females tend to be more dominate than my males and a neutered female will likely tend to be less domineering. There is a pecking order to any group and being intact (male or female) ups the stakes. Plus there is the mess associated with heat cycles and the need to worry about outside males wanting her.
If you aren't interested in breeding a bitch, it is easier on you, and healthier for her to be spayed.

I think your best bet would be a female
younger then 5. Don't know your dogs energy level but it would be best to get a dog with a similar level.

A spayed female at the same age/energy level would be the likely match.
Resscue groups will ask why your male isn't neutered. Doesn't mean you can't adopt, but they will ask.
