Hey all...long time no see :-)
We are the proud parents of a new bully baby (Princess Daisy). Currently we are feeing her 3/4 cup of Wellness Puppy 3x per day. She is just a hair over 4 months old, and loosing her puppy teeth ( lots of blood). We have been struggling with keeping her stool "solid". I am wondering if we should 1) cut down on food 2) go to 2 feedings a day or 3) deal with it for now as she is teething?
Been a long time since we had a puppy in the house so I thought I would ask the experts :-)
Will try to get some pictures up soon, still getting used to the new forum!
I would keep to the routine
that you have until she is 6 months but you may want to switch to adult food now.
Good luck

Thanks Lynn
Will look at some adult food. We have Otis on the Wellness Core as it is grain-free. The Wellness folks say not to feed the Core foods to any dog under a year old...will see what we can come up with. Thanks and take care~
Hi Jill
I kept my last two puppies on the puppy food the breeder was using for about 2-3 weeks then I slowly switched them to a good all stages food. I would feed about 1 cup three times a day.
Poor baby, I'm sure her teeth are hurting. They have "chilly bones" at Petsmart that you can freeze and then let her chew on.
Audrey LOVED chilly bones
when she was teething. you can use them over and over also.
Cathy and Audrey
fill a soda bottle with.....
water and freeze.....this will help sooth those gums.....loose stools during teething in normale.....i use 1/2 pedilyte in my water bottles....my dogs are adults except for casper who is 4 months...i feed three times a day....a very lite snack for lunch...i think its up to you....i i do believe dogs should eat at least twice a day
Thank you all!
I have been trying dish-towels in a knot, getting wet, and freezing. Daisy seems to like them...anything to help her little toofers feel better. I will go look for a chilly bone tonight too :-)
Things in the other end have much improved the past day...solid and well formed. Ha Ha...I forgot how excited I would get about poop! I may hold off changing her to adult food for just a bit...I want her tummy to relax before any changes.
We are starting puppy kindergarden on Thursday...wish me luck I have a diva on my hands :-)
Sorry to hear about Daisy's discomfort
I don't have any additional advice to give but I will say that Tuffy had very large, loose stools on the Wellness Large Breed puppy formula and I had to eventually switch him to a different food. I read a lot of reviews on Wellness and apparently softer stools is not uncommon with the Wellness brand. But, of course, every dog is different and it just might be the teething. Tuffy is not a good example either since he's had soft stools on just about every food I've had him on until I switched him from hollistic to a commercial brand. But now he's having some skin issues. The fun never ends!
Best of luck....
