We are the proud owners of Kivu...he is 17 weeks today. I have him on "Call of the Wild" salmon dog food...it is grain free and my vet is all for grain free diets. However, Kivu can clear a room with his gas. It is SO bad!! So my question is...Is there any bulldog grain free food that won't make him as gassy as he is now? When we got him, we had him on the Nutro Puppy...and when I went to the pet store to buy more, the gal there just raved about how good the "COTW" food was...and how great his coat would look. And his coat does look really good. I have noticed that his stools are firm but sticky, so I usually have to give his bottom a wipe when he comes in from going potty. He used to dig right in and eat all of his food in one sitting...now, he comes and goes with it...and there is usually still food left over in his dish when I feed him his dinner. Any suggestions would be great!!
My dogs are on Core Wellness Low fat which is grain free...
and my bully has no gas and my Cocker has a little. HOWEVER!!! Grain free is really not for puppies because it lacks the nutrients that a puppy needs during it's growing stages so Wellness Core does not recommend this food for dogs less than a year old.

Re: I've found great food for fixing gas!
I think someone else on this forum mentioned this kind of food. I might just have to give it a try...or invest in a gas mask!! HAHA!! Thanks!!

I've found great food for fixing gas!
Hi, Mack used to have the WORST gas, he was also on TOTW, then I switched to Natural Balance Sweet Potato and Venison. LOVE this food, way less gas, firm poops, coat looks great, and he loves to eat it!!! Good luck!

Re: No problem
I've read that dogs having gas is the #1 sign you are over feeding. The fact he is leaving food may also be a sign. I'm not sure how much you are feeding and I feed my bully a raw diet so I can't help with kibble measurements but perhaps someone else can? HTH

Re: Only one
I give him yogurt every once in a while...which he LOVES!! I didn't know that can help with gas. When we got him, he had Kennel Cough, Intestinal Parasites, and tested positive for Giardia...but did not actually have it...if that makes sense. He is now clear of everything (Thank Goodness!!) and when he was on the many antibiotics, the vet suggested that we also give him the yogurt.
I will try that and see how he does. Thanks so much!!

thought comes to mind. Do you give him any yogurt? A little spoon of that each day (lowfat plain) should help with the gas. =)

If not, you will have to weigh if it's worth it or not to switch food again. All dogs are different so you really just have to find what works best for him.
