Hi guys,
Our 7 week old puppy has a tight pink bulge sticking out of her rectum. I'm not sure what to do about it. Its late and the vet isn't opened till the morning. I have some people coming to look at her tomorrow and I'm worried about this being a problem. I leave water out at all times and she drinks it often. I have heard her strain when she poops, so this may also be a cause. Anyhow... how do I get rid of it? thanks
Get Karo and give her 1/2 teaspoon at each feeding.

I love Bulldogs World. I would be lost without it
The litter is from my male and female, I've been raising them. I've been feeding the pups softened Royal Canin medium puppy mixed with plain yogurt since introduction. She drinks water fine, I always have some out for them.
It is the fiber? I had a puppy with this problem many years ago and cannot remember how it was treated.
Im stumped. i will buy Prep.H. and call the vet as soon as they open this morning.
Again thanks for helping me

At seven weeks this pup is too young to sell...you can, of course, show her and even take a deposit but I strongly encourage you to keep her another week, with siblings hopefully so she can learn to play "as a puppy" and not suffer separation anxiety too soon. As for the constipation, you should have been offering something to ease this before the prolapse happened but I'm hoping that its minor irritation and a change in diet along with Preparation-H, small amount put on the outside, will help. Be sure that none of the other pups are licking it. As for the diet, if this pup is getting only softened puppy kibble, add 1 Tablespoonful of unflavored yogurt and if that doesn't help, add a couple drops of olive oil to one meal. You don't want to do too many changes to cause the opposite problem of diarrhea, but a little dairy or oil may be enough to relieve the constipation and soften the BM a little. In my own mind I'd like to feel that you got this pup as healthy as possible before you sent it off to its new home...and tell them exactly what you are feeding, both amounts and brands, and schedule/times of meals. Continue to offer fresh water all day.
