Poop question....Because there aren't enough of them

Ok so going back about two and a half weeks or so Stanley just flat out refused to eat his totw. I thought he was being a jerk but after reading posts on this board other had the same issue. So i could not do a gradual switchover I just put him on NB duck and potato he had a little soft poop at first but I expected that. after a few days the poop got mucousy and just nasty looked like it had a film in and around it. I then just put him on chicken and white rice for about 4 days and his poop cleared right up. I slowly began mixing in the NB again and for the first few days it was ok now again it is just nasty there are these really light colored streaks in the poop almost looks like butter or something. Im going to put him back on just chicken and rice again for a few days and then try a different food. My question is what makes the poop mucousy?

We also were on teh TOTW

I had switched to it from NB for financial reason, but after a few months my girls started having issues and I switched them back to NB. I then made a slow move to Wellness for cost reasons too! Yikes, the economy had better pick back up or I will be eating horse feed and dog food since I won't cut any of them back any more than they already are!!

Tom I would recomment NB Sweet Potato and Fish

I like you just took my Lola off TOTW.. I have done it slowly cause thankfully Lola will still nibble at the TOTW but today I am switching her over completly. She loves the NB Sweet Potato and Fish..For the first time in forever she ate the kibble like it was a treat and her Stools are firm. I like the limited ingredients in it for her skin.. I am glad I was able to make the switch from TOTW so easy because she had been on it for so long and I went through other foods..

feed Orijen Adult

Mine has been on it for a couple of months and the poop are firm. They would not eat TOTW or NB duck anymore. Their coats are so soft, no more redness between the toes either.

When mine was on TOTW or NB duck, the poop was a dark brown color. I've made the switch to Orijen because I heard so many good things about it and the picky eater is gaining weight and he loves it.
You can order it here and if you type in the coupon code orijen10 you can save 10%

NB made my girls poop look a little colorful too, but it did the

They do great on NB. Try the venison or fish one, maybe it won't be as harsh. If that doesn't work out, Wellness Auper5Mix Large breed adult is a good food with good grains, not he bad ones. I have my girls on it right now, they are doing well.

Thanks Ela1ne

He did great on the totw. I think maybe he just does not do well on duck. i think im going to try the NB fish and sweet potato since it is similar to the totw. If that does not work Ill go to something that has some good grains in it as he ate blue buffalo before so I do not believe he has grain issues. As always thanks again for your input

What you're seeing is "irritation" of the intestinal tract

beins shed with the waste. Something in the food doesn't agree with him. I agree that you need to get him back to "neutral" in the poop department, but I would stick with something that uses rice since this is a grain that he seems to be able to digest well.
