PLEASE HELP Toby ate Moth Balls!!!

Toby found some moth balls and he ate some, do not know how much though, we threw away all we did find! We caught him in the act within 2-4 mins.
His breath smelled just like it, and he is very much a "eat and chew on" bully. We catch him all the time trying to eat sticks, rocks, plums etc etc We called our vet and they said to give him soft food, then peroxide to induce vomiting- we did and he vomited up his food and 1/2 of a piece of moth ball maybe smaller. Called the vet back again for the third time during this past 1 1/2 hours. He said to watch him and see if he will eat food later on and keep it down...... I am so worried ....... Has this ever happened to any of you? I want to call the vet back again but he said he would hate for me to have Toby go through xrays and surgery, if he already vomited everything off his stomach etc. If he started to shows signs of poisoning then call back.... Going to take my Toby back out so he can walk around - he is acting like he is okay, just upset from vomiting, but how do I know for sure...Thanks so much in advance for any help or advice Tanya

Thanks

Thanks so much for putting him on the prayer list! Will let you know how he does and it feels so great to be able to connect to others that own and love these very unique and wonderful family pet members! We have thrown away all the mothballs, and sealed up the 1 area that he was able to get under the lattice and never will use them again.(also never underestimate the curiosity of our boy Toby! b/c he has never went under the porch area before) I think I can handle a snake in the yard better than going through this! Thanks again, Tanya

Yes, probably a sleepless night for you

I've a few of those too. I bet he'll be OK it's just very scary when they do things like this. It sounds like you're doing everything possible.

That is what I want to do but our vet said just to watch him, for now unless he shows signs of poisoning- he has not vomited again, since we had to induce it with peroxide and has ate a few meaty bone treats, water and did his business outside (both looked fine). I am praying he will be okay and will be up with him the next 48 hours. Well, I guess I will be up and watch him sleep! Thank you so much for replying back! Tanya

I would go to the emergency Vet if.......

He starts showing signs of being sick, throwing up, diarhea, lethargy. Good luck! I've never had one eat moth balls before. Maybe the peroxide got all of it out of his system.
