pateller luxation

can I get some feed back on this issue from those of you who have experienced it?

I am getting conflicting information and want to make sure I have some facts corrrect.

Mostly interested in the grade you got.
Did you get a second opinion and did your grade change between vets?
Did you opt for surgery or not?
If not, how is your dog doing and what did you do for him?
If you did have surgery, did you regret the decision?
Anything else you can add.

if you trust your vet, which makes all the difference,

then surgery depends on the grade of luxation. Best of luck.

patella luxation

Had a bitch years ago. Grade 3-4 per orthopedic specialist. Surgery recommended but not done (diagnosed as a puppy) Knees actually stabilized--stopped "popping" However rear legs appear "bowlegged"--very wide apart-- and not "cow hocked"--which is the usual Bulldog rear. She will soon be 7 and has had no problems. Unbelieveable is that she was shown and finished rather quickly in spite of her bad rear.

Atlas had surgery

Tomorrow will be 9 weeks since his surgery. He was a stage 3-4, they told us. Our local vet discovered the problem and referred us to a surgeon who agreed with her diagnosis.

Atlas just turned 8 months old on the 12th. He did very, very well with the surgery and is doing well now. We kept him crated all the time for the first 6 weeks and have just started letting him have more freedom, but no steps, running, jumping.

Hope this gives you some help in making the decision.

Best Regards,
Cheryl & Atlas
