Came home today to a limping bulldog. Its her left rear leg, which I suspect to be a old ACL injury. My roomate has some pain meds she gave her dog after his sugery and I was wondering if I could give some to my girl.
Its Previcoxx 57mg/tablet.
If her pain persists, is this safe? Obviously a vet visit is in order but I was curious, thanks in advance.
no human pain meds.....
any nartoic should be given by a vet.....use just plain aspirn instead its safer....

Thanks all, she's doing better this morning
She is still limping but definately not as pronounced and she doesn't seem to be in pain, which makes me happy! Thanks again!

I also agree
call your vret, but until you can get her there, complete crate rest is called for bathroom breaks on leash only.

Agree with Sue...
While Prevacox may be okay if your dog is otherwise healthy (no GI or kidney conditions you are aware of) its safer at this point to go with a coated adult aspirin (325gr)... and crate-rest is most important, no stairs, no jumping for at least two weeks. If its muscular it should improve in that time...if its structural, then surgery may be the best option.

That;'s a question for your vet...
but it shouldn't be a problem if the dogs are relatively the same weight.
You can give her 1 325mg aspirin every 6 hours, NOT Tylenol or Advil.
Crate rest is probably best. No stairs or jumping on/off furniture.
