Need as much info on SB puppies as I can get...

Okay the story of this SB puppy is killing me! But I need the good the bad and the Ugly from other SB owners! I have emailed one of you privately but I have lots of questions... Medical costs... Can they be potty trained I have put a call into my vet as well as I am doing as much research as I can Linda is being great answering my questions but My bully is fine and has had no health problems (knock on wood) so I am not sure what all is envolved.

Thanks a bunch!
Dawn

Hi Dawn

Their cost is a little more than other dogs if you use diapers, wipes etc.

They cannot be potty trained, they cannot feel that they have to go to the bathroom so they can't control it. I give mine cranberry supplement pills to help try to prevent urinary tract infections.Your vet may tell you that the pup should be put down, but that is not the case.

Here is the bad-
These dogs are more work for sure, they leave poop smudges everywhere, they leak urine, they can get diaper rash if you use diapers and they are not changed enough. If you leave them for a few hours they have to be left diaper free or their diaper will explode, then you will come home to a mess you have to clean.

Here is the good- They are so sweet and loving, they have no idea they are different, they can live a normal life aslong as you are willing to help them a little bit, they play like every other dog, they love, they cuddle, they get silly, they are a normal bully in every other way.

Please feel free to email me as much as you like and I will help you as much as I can.

Dawn, I ansered a couple of emails...but forgot this one thing..

no, they are not able to potty train. Since they cannot control bowels or urine...they are not able to feel when they have to potty. At least MOST of them can't. What I have found though is Isabella has certain times she is likely to have a bowel movement, and I always take her outside for some good running time each day to vacate bowels and push urine out. Helps tremendously!!
