Mysterious Pain

Chunky seems to be in a lot of pain. He just stands still and doesn't move. When we egg him on to go outside to use the bathroom, he moves really slow. I tried picking him up and carrying him and would growl in discomfort. Chunky would do anything for food and never skips a meal. We tried putting a treat on the floor, and he would budge. This morning, we put out his breakfast, and he wouldn't move. He did finally eat when we put the bowl in front of him.

We worried something happened at the pet hotel because we picked him up monday night after a 4 night stay. But he seemed fine that night and all day tuesday. Last night is when this behavior started. My girl friend was napping on the couch and chunky was napping on the other couch. She said he rolled over and fell off on the wooden floors. Maybe he fell wrong or something.

I'm going to call the vet today for an appointment. It's just frustrating not knowing what exactly is wrong or where the pain is coming from. This is the first time that he restraings from eating, so we're worried sick.

it does sound like lyme...but it also sounds like a spine problem he may have wacked his spine like we throw out our backs...i would have him tested for lyme and then i would get some accupuncture for his back....metacam has no steroids and is a great pain reliver....

It is frustrating

He may have hurt himself when he fell. Do you live in an area that has ticks? Lyme disease is very painful too.

Thanks for the input.

Thats why I like this site. I would have never considered lyme disease. I just dropped of Chunky at the Vet and they are going to do their thing. We'll see what's up in a couple of hours. I'm pretty sure it's his back. He got really excited when he saw all the workers at the Vet's office but was still walking very gingerly.

seems he hurt his back when he fell off the floor

Bring him to the vet and do an xray to see if any disc on his spine is out of place, that would cause swelling and very painful. the vet can give him an injection for the inflammation and he would definitely need to be crated for a couple of weeks.
