My bully Diesel ate SoftLips Chapstick
Submitted by Anonymous on April 21, 2010 - 12:10amI haven't really posted much but I've been a loyal reader since March of 2008 when I got my first bulldog. Diesel is about a year and a half old, and he got a tube of SoftLips chapstick and ATE IT! Should I take him to the vet? I think my husband dropped it out of his pocket when he changed pants for work.

Thanks again for everyone's comments. He did have diarrhea through yesterday but other than that, he was fine! He did have one accident in the house (we have tile) but my husband cleaned that up b/c he's the one that dropped the chapstick there in the first place. Diesel and Skye are snoring at my feet right now.

He should be fine....
It's mostly vaseline and obviously not poisonous if people are putting it on their mouths and some people use it to soften their dogs' noses.
He may get the runs but he should be fine.

He only ate the actual chapstick, and I found the parts of the tube....Hopefully, it was only about half, but it was my husband's and he doesn't use it very much. I'll keep an eye on him today and tomorrow to be sure he's okay.

To save a trip to the vet, watch your dog very closly for the next twenty-four hours. Is he acting abnormal? Not eating normally? Is his poo diffrent for them then twenty-four hours? If yes, then take him to the vet. If no, then he should be fine. Just keep a sharp eye out for him.
my dog ate a tube once...casing and all..He had an upset tummy and it took a couple trys for him to pass it but its all came out the other end and after that he was fine.
Watch for a fever and if he gets one I would take him in for sure..
