Mugzy is under the weather..... is a vet visit in order?

Mugzy has been drooling for the past 2 days. In addition he has thrown up a few times. Sometimes he throws up but it "stays" in his mouth and he kinda of swallows it.

His appetite is fine but he is drinking a lot ( it has been over 90 degrees here for the past few days).

Any ideas on what it could be? Maybe heat related? Is a Vet visit in order

He is acting normally , eating, pooping and playing as usual

Thanks for your input.

Simon Takes Pepcid A/C Every Day...

He gets one in the a.m. and p.m. So you can start with one and see if she feels better. Dogs do get occasional stomach upset. My other bulldog, Maybull, was drooling for a couple of days and I thought she was nausous, vet said to give her 1/2 cup of milk and it did the trick. He said he gives his dauchund milk when she has an occasional upset stomach and it works well.

I would give one 10 mg. Pepcid a day

That's the dosage my Vet said to give Maizy when she had acid reflux.

Pepcid AC dosage...kind of long...sorry I got carried away!

My vet prescribed 1/2 (Maximum Strength 20 mg) tablet twice a day for my 13 pound chihuahua. I've never given my big dogs Pepcid AC but if they had an upset stomach and I thought they needed it, I would give them a whole Maximum Strength tablet twice a day. My vet did tell me that Pepcid is the only acid reducer that is safe for dogs. Of course, I had Zantac in my medicine cabinet...had to go to WallyWorld and get Pepcid for the dogs...now I have both!

By the way, I think Punkie is going to be fine and dandy in no time...I am changing their food (again!). I ordered Flint River Ranch Fish and Potato and UPS delivered it today. Punkie was sleeping under my recliner and I didn't even get through the door good...all of my dogs, including Punkie met me at the door sniffing the box like crazy. When I opened the box they were all guarding the bags of food. I calmed them down and fed them a few nuggets and they love it...now I will have to worry about them gaining too much weight! It's always something, isn't it!?!

I hope the Pepcid and the bland chicken/rice diet help Mugzy get over his tummy ache...keep me posted on him. He will be in my thoughts and prayers...

Thanks Donna that is good advice. What is the dosage for Pepcid?

I am going to cook up some chicken and rice and try that too.

So glad that PB is home . Still sending thoughts for a full and speedy recovery.

Diane, maybe Mugsy is having a little indigestion...

I had a chihuahua and she was acting normal except she kept throwing up mostly liquid foamy stuff. I took her to the vet and he told me to give her Pepcid AC. He also put her on a bland diet of chicken and rice for about a week and she was back to normal within 2-3 days.

I'm not a vet but since you asked for input...If Mugsy is ok except for the throwing up, you could try Pepcid AC and a little chicken and rice to see if he gets better...if not, then a trip to the vet might be in order before the weekend gets here.
