Its only on his head and cheeks, not his body. We've been to 2 different vets. The first vet put Brody on simplecef (for acne on chin) and hydrxyzine for the hair loss.
Then we went to another vet because he was still losing hair and not getting any better. This second vet put him on a 10 day dose of Cephalexin 500mg two pills twice a day. He is still dropping hair beyond the normal amount of shedding and the top of his head and cheeks still have that moth eaten look????????? He does scratch at his cheeks once in a while, but not enough to be concerned. Also forgot to mention, the 2nd vet did a skin scraping and took a hair sampling for testing...everything was negative, but he felt it was staph related.
Any suggestions????
Oh and almost forgot..
the marigold extract is the best for controlling mosquitoes. Use it on myself too.

I used to sell this stuff..
It works miracles. Let me know how it works for you. I like the Mega tek product too. A dollop in a spray bottle with water works great and goes a long way.

Wow, these "infections" sure do hold on, dont they.
Brody is on a grain free diet, he has been for 2-3 months now..and it has helped in many ways. I guess I'll have to ask them to try another antibiotic.

The weird thing is, this infection seems to be confined to his head??????? The vet found the puzzling as well.
staph
It sound like what we went thru several months ago. Our regular vet did a scrapping and sent it off to be cultured. We were told it was staph and the dog was put on clavamox. She was on it for 4 weeks but she wasn't getting better, but she wasn't getting worse either. The vet then recommended we see an allergist. The Allergist wanted to do her own scrapping and have her lab culture it to see if there was a better antibiotic. They came back with the recomendation of ciprofloxacin 750 mg. We did that for 60 days. IT WORKED. At the same time I put Seameal suppliment in her food and put her on Evo (grain free) dog food. Finally her coat doesn't have all those holes in it. Hope you find an antibiotic that works.
Staph
We've been dealing with Staph for several weeks. Chief has been on two rounds of antibiotics and still has a couple of spots. We are treating it now with Eqyss spray and shampoo.

Here's a link to the products we are using.
