Max isn't acting right this am

We just got up and let Max out (he sleeps in a crate) and he isn't acting right. Ears are being held back more, his breathing seems a little more noticable (but I wouldn't say labored) and he has "thrown up" white foaming stuff. He has thick clear drool hanging from his mouth, not common for him. He did go potty and had a BM. I say this because, a week and a half ago he had a steak bone that he swallowed in a gulp and I have been worried about a possible obstruction. He has been fine though up until about 4 days ago and I thought he might have picked up kennel cough at a show. His runny nose was clear and he was coughing-but all that went away yesterday and then this morning- he just isn't right.

Anyone have any ideas?

Excellent that you took him in right away.

I commend you for your intelligence!! Some folks just wait until it is too late.

SO DARN GLAD he is going to be ok.

Glad I could help:-)

Back from vet

OK, Max is still about the same-although maybe resting a little more comfortably. Xray confirmed slight consolidation in the left lung, probably pneumonia. Vet doesn't think he aspirated lake water the other day, due to location of consolidate. Also did a film of abdomen, so I wouldn't worry about an obstruction, that was clear. CBC was sent as well. Max had a temp of 103.5.

They gave him something for his fever and started him on Clavamox. So we're keeping our fingers crossed that he starts to perk up tomorrow.

Thanks,
Heather M

Terrible bully mom

I don't have a mercury thermometer, however his nose is warm and dry. Yeah, we're going to take him in. Thanks

Might want to make a vet cisit. Have you taken his temp?

Kennel Cough can quickly become dangerous in our breed. I would suggest a quick trip to your vet. My Beagle had teh same symptoms after a bout with Kennel Cough and I took him right in. Saved his life. He had a terrible case of pneumonia, and the drooling was from a high fever.

I am not saying your baby is in big trouble, but take the temp right away and if it is elevated, get right to your vet.
