My Brutus is 7 1/2 yrs old and for the past 5 or 6 months he's been having days where he doesn't want to eat and goes outside looking for grass to eat then vomits. Sometimes he vomits all his meals (if it's in the afternoon) and other times it's bile. I have had him to the vet where he's had blood work done 3 times since January. His second blood work results showed an elevated globulin protein something or other (I don't remember the exact term) and the 3rd showed that it had decreased a bit. When the vet palpated his abdomen he said the top of his stomach felt firm. We did x-rays and even had a 2nd vet feel his stomach. But the x-ray didn't show the firm area. Now the vet suggested an ultra sound. My dilema is, should I put him through more tests? He's already had his tail and a toe amputated and has had 3 histiocytomas. I have limited income and all these tests are becoming expensive. Of course I'm NOT making my decision based on money, I'd do anything for Brutus. I just wonder if I should put him through more exams and tests or if there's something I can try at home myself? Has anyone else had this problem? Sorry this post is so long but I wanted to make sure I explained everything, all his symptoms. Thank you in advance, Karen & Brutus

The vet usually looks inside their mouth I would think.

Stupid Question - How do they check a palette?
It's a stupid question but how do they check a palette?
My baby is 8 months old, the vet said the palette looked good, but I didn't really see her do anything special to determine this.
Just curious.

I do try and feed him small frequent meals. I have not tried the tums or pepcid ac though. I guess it's worth a try. Thanks

his palette is fine
yes, he apparently has no other obvious problems that we can see.

here is what i would do.....
i have a vomiter just like you...and once i had him vet checked and he was ok....before every meal i give two pepcid ac (you can also use tums) now this is before his meal....i also went to smaller more frequent meals instead of one or two....i am able to do three meals...bulldogs have funny stomachs and they dont like to be empty....

\so give the pepcid ac or tums a couple of weeks and change his feeding routine....he should always have a small meal in the am....

I see that they
have checked the stomach etc., but has his palette ever been checked? Or the throat area?
