I'm glad everything went well! My dog had the surgery last Thursday on both eyes & we were not sent home with pain meds either. I learned from trial and error, but I put a glob of the ointment on my washed finger and put it into the inner corner of his eye. I tried to pull a little bit on the upper lid (since there were not many stitches there), and get it in there. Just try to be as gentle as possible. I took the advice and used a warm washcloth to loosen the yuk on his eye in addition to using the ointment. Over the days there will be so much crusty goop, so it's really necessary.

pain meds that she took every 12 hours for the first few days after surgery. She never tried to scratch or rub her eyes...we never had to use a cone but the vet sent one home with me "just in case". I took Ela1ne's advice and used a warm compress a couple of times a day on Punkie's eyes. Punkie had her stitches out a couple of weeks ago and she is a different dog. I could tell she felt better right after surgery. I think their eyes are very painful before the entropion surgery. It's so wonderful to see both of my baby's eyes wide open...no squinting! Keep us posted on your sweet baby boy.

we just got back, the vet said everything went very well, his eyes are very swollen but he seems to be ok he just ate a whole bowl of food and is currently drinking his water. He keeps trying to scratch himself but the cone is stopping him. The vet didn't send any meds home w/ us is this normal? she said he didn't need it, We do currently have his eye ointment from his ulcer and she said we could use it on the one eye only but I'm afraid I might aggrivate it by putting anything on it. I want to thank you all for your prayers and support!

if your vet didn't send home any eye meds she felt that the eyes were healthy and I'm a bit surprised that some wasn't recommended prophylactically, but. If you want to use a bit of the previous eye medication once/twice a day for the first couple days that would be perfectly acceptable...its up to you.

Liz, not sure if "no meds" is normal or not...Punkie came home w
