Lip discoloration

It seems every day I notice another skin issue on Tuffy. Today I noticed some skin discoloration on his upper lip (right side of photos)...it looks like he's had some hair loss. Pic below. Is this acne related?

Does he have a hard

ball that he plays with that could have rubbed the top layer of skin off?  Onslow has done that on his teaser ball.

If not I would get that spot scraped for demodex.  Good luck!

He does chew on a red plastic frisbee and it has sharp edges...

Thanks for bringing that up!! He has a vet appt on Friday so I'll have the vet take a look to see if it needs to be tested....

Agree with the skin be rubbed

off. If you shave Ester's lips too close it burns her lips and the first layer of skin goes pink. It looks horrible. The pigment comes back in 2 or 3 weeks and shes all black again.

Oh my gosh Tuffy!

you are beating up your face!

I do see it but have no idea what it could be if it's not a scrape.

Safe toys?

I guess plastic toys are out.... Can someone suggest safe toys that won't scrape or chafe his face? He is a VERY aggressive chewer and lives to chomp and roughouse...

You could try

The BLACK kong - they're made of a stronger rubber than the red. My guys do the Galileo nylabones. They're very thick and rounded. I get the largest one they sell. :)

Thanks!

I gave him the giant sized Nylabone healthy edible Dental bone but it lasted literally 15 minutes! I will look into the Galileo nylabones. He doesn't care for the regular plastic kind...too boring for him.
