A friend of ours called the other day and told us he tied hid bulldog outside while the cable guy came to hook up the tv. The dog started barking and wouldn't stop. I guess he was also pulling on the leash. After the man left he brought the dog in and he was having trouble breathing and couldn't bark because he lost his voice. I was furious that he would tie a bulldog outside for any reason. I told him to try a little lemon to see if that helped. When he got to the vet he had told them he squirted a little lemon in his mouth and the vet said the lemon would make it worse. why do vets not think lemon is not a good thing for bulldogs? Oh BTW he is fine today and I guess just stressed out. He never ties or lets the dog out alone but they just moved into their new house and I guess wasn't using his head. The couple is only 20 years old so new to bulldogs.

Only reason I can think of is
that they might be afraid of the lemon squirting into the lungs instead of down the throat. I always worry about pneumonia, but you do what you have to.
Lemon is good for phlegm buildup but...
if his throat was irritated from barking and pulling, the lemon would irritate it further.
Good point!
I had a duh moment. LOL
Thanks
That definately makes sense....
