Hi everyone-
Haven't posted in a long time, but I knew this was the best place to ask a question that is affecting my foster dog. He is a boxer mix, so it's a bit off topic, but there's no better health advice than on BDW.
So, he went to the kennel (which our local no kill group uses all the time to house dogs while we try to get them in to foster) while I was on vacation. According to the shot records that came with him when his owner surrendered him, he had a bordatella vaccine on 4/14 of this year. Now he is home from the kennel (picked up by a possible adoptive family - yea!) and he definitely has the symptoms of kennel cough. He is going to the vet today, but I wanted to ask if it is possible for them to get it, even when they have been vaccinated?
Any body else have experience with this sort of situation?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks, ladies . . .
I feel much better now and I'm sure the vet will say the same things. His new family really loves him and wants to adopt him, but they just lost a pet after a long illness and I think they are a bit skittish about taking on another sick dog. It sounds like kennel cough is fairly curable, so I think this will turn out well all around. Except that I'll miss him!
Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
Yes, they can because....
there are several strains of kennell cough & the vaccine doesn't cover them all.

Alot to read about it here.
Says they can still get it even after the vaccination as there are many strains of it.
Good Luck, Kim
