Dozer's paws are once again red and itchy. I don't see any hives yet, but he is licking them non stop. In the past, steroids have helped, but I hate to go that route again if I don't have to. Currently, I'm giving him benadryl and cleaning his paws with malaseb wipes. He has been on antibiotics for the last 3 weeks due to a staph infection. Does anyone have suggestions to give him some relief? We're desperate!
Thanks!
Lisa

A nice cool bath with malaseb or Zymox shampoo
can help. We bath Hooch once a week, but then do his feet an additional time time during the week. You need to get the allergens off.

my boy deals with this.....
here is what i do.....i soak his feet in epsom salt to helps with the swelling and itchy feeling....antibotics and steriods do nothing but mask the problem....get him on grain free or raw diet.... i use benatine one part to two parts water this drys the feet so their not moist after the epsom salt soak....i also use vit c 1000 mg a day as this brings up his ph and helps stop the yeast....i also use yogurt for good bacteria....but untill you stop supressing his immuntiy system with steriods and antiboics you will always have a problem....
i also use a soap called sebolux i get it from the vet....after his epsom soak i scrub his under feet with this and dry.....i do this once a day to every two days depending on pollen and where we have been....such as treated grass and such....

For yeasty feet...
I keep a spray bottle of apple cider vinegar and water mixed up and I spray Punkie's feet a couple of times a day if she is having trouble with her feet. The vinegar helps inhibit the growth of yeast. The vinegar/water mixture is very convenient and can be used in between the epsom salt soaks.

Thanks for the tips. I will ask my vet if he can get the soap for me. I should have added, Dozer is on a grain free diet. We feed him Canidae grain free and also give yogurt, green beans, and chicken.
I fell like we're caught between a rock and a hard place. The staph infection was terrible...he was covered in scabbed over blisters and his hair was falling out like crazy. Since he's been on antibiotics, things have gotten so much better. I hate that it may be causing the inflamed paws, but I don't want to stop too early and risk his skin getting so bad again. I'm hoping to keep him comfortable until the anitbiotics are finished and his skin is completely cleared. Thanks again!
