Hi All,
I gave my 4 month old bulldog puppy a bath on sunday. I used the puppy shampoo while he was in the bath to clean his folds (i usually use the baby wipes) This morning I noticed puss in his folds, it was yellow and the same thing tonight and it's a bit red.
Could they be infected?
Re: If they are very raw, the gold bonds
you must be a mom or nurse! I found these items to be very helpfull as well! The malaseb are great to keep intact folds but once the folds get yeasty or foul they need tlc! My friend suggested apple cider vinegar for cleaning ears, maybe it would help the yeasty folds as well?

moist folds
How about old fashioned corn starch to dry it out. Gold bond is medicated and may burn? Balmex ointment for babies bums also is a good healing agent! But moist needs to dry out first.

Probably caused by not drying well enough...
after the bath.
Dry well & powder them. He'll be fine.
The key is to always dry all crevasses very well after a bath. The issue with mine is the tail pocket. I dry it VERY well with a paper towel.

Hi Heather.... did you dry the wrinkle folds really well..
if not this could be yeast and not an infection. I would recleanse them with baby shampoo or malaseb and then add gold bond powder. Baby rash ointment is great but if this is yeast or an infection things need to be dried out and the ointments will keep things trapped. Gold bond is medicated and may sting some but IMO is a better choice at this time.

If they are very raw, the gold bonds
may burn and hurt. I use the baby wipes and then diaper rash cream, like balmex. My Bella has a big noe rope and hers gets irritated and red often. I ahve to clean it daily with the unscented baby wipes.

I would go ahead and do wipes and Gold Bond for
a couple of days. Call your vet if it doesn't look better by Thursday. Vet would just cost money for something you can care for at home:-) I am just trying to help you save a little money on this one. If it was a wound, I would send you off to the vet pretty quick, but this really can be managed at home.
Also, I would probably, were it me, use the diaper cream after a wipe rather than Gold Bond right now, but that is just me. My girl Sophie had an infected nose rope and I did the wipe and rash cream for a couple days and she was fine:-)

I would clean them very well with a Malaseb wipe (you can get them from you vet or order online). If you don't have those, use a baby wipe very gently. If you have Gold Bond powder you can put some in the folds to keep them nice and dry. If not you can use diaper rash cream...that will keep the area dry until the infection goes away. Make sure to keep the folds clean daily and check for irritation.

Make sure baby wipes are unscented
the perfumed type can cause reactions.
