IDC treatment, should it be bandaged?

I took Frida for her re-check on her snake bite and asked the vet to look at her idc on her back paw. When they brought her back to me they bandaged it up. This is not a bulldog specialist, i didnt go there because its first come first serve and on a Saturday, well I'd spend my entire day there. Should it be bandaged? I was thinking of taking it off because i want to soak her foot again in Epsom Salt solution.

Thanks Rhiann

I will have the groomer do it, she would never sit still for that. She does let me clip her nails but if i come near her with anything that makes noise she freaks out. Hopefully she'll let the groomer do it.

She does have fat

paws and they are hairy. how many milligrams of each vitamin are you giving? I do use bleach to clean my floor, but just a tiny bit to disinfect.

look on the bottom....

of her feet is their alot of hair growth... are her feet big and fat so moisture gets trapped in their??? youll see alot of hair between the toes and pads .....it could also be a contact allergy like grass....bleach...on the floor...
i would start using vit e and vit c with some yougurt....vit c changes the ph level in your dog...and a low ph will some times cause a bacteria growth in the pad areas...
idc does not have a simple over fix....i have been dealing with it for 2 years.....

It was bleeding

and it was huge. its gone down a lot now but she still continues to try to lick it so I put the e-collar back on her. I will start doing the epsom salt twice a week from now on for prevention. thanks!

I took the bandages off today

and soaked her feet and now powdered them like you said. I had to e-collar her again because she will not stop licking them. How do you know if its the hair on their feet? She eats a grain free kibble so i honestly dont think its a food allergy.

i would not bandage a idc because.....

their so hard to determine as to why it happened.....wilsons feet get very moist so i have to keep them dry...if i bandaged them i would worry to much about the bacteria and moisture....its better to soak them if possible twicw a day in epsom salt...dry real good and then powder with gold bond...
idc is not just caused by food allerigies...they can be caused by the hair on the bottom of their feet...thats wilson problem...and its a difficult problem...i find by keeping them soaked and dryed they dont swell up as much....

i use....

1000 mg of vit c ......vit c is a water soluble vit meaning the excess is flushed from the kidneys
vit e is not and can be toxic use a low dose and do it every other day.....with vit e i 400u...
dont let her walk on the floors right after you mop them.....also benadryl is very good to help with itching....wilson is 52 lbs and it is safe to give up to 4 a day....pre my vet....
now keep a good watch to she when her feet bother or are swollen more....are they itches more in the morning or at nite....where has she been....you need to be a good detective to find and resolve the problem....it takes time and effort....

hey Marti

also with hairy feet, you can shave them. I use my clippers and shave out Mias feet, shave under and in between. If your worried about doing this you can have a groomer do it. I find this has helped us.
Best of luck.

Depends if its bleeding alot...

but in general I like to keep such wounds open/uncovered so I can watch them...and if the soaking helps keep it open/draining that would be good IMHO. -E.
