What is the best way to treat a cracked lip on a dog. Ajax's lower lip has been getting really dry and will sometimes "crack" open and bleed. We have been able to get the bleeding to stop, but we are wondering if there is a way to moisturize the lip so this doesn't keep happening. However, it has to be something safe for him since he could get it in his mouth. Any tips?
Thank you!

Aquaphor, chap stick, vaseline
I've used all three of these. Ruby has her own tube of chap stick
This happens to us a lot in winter. I find Aquaphor in the baby isle of the grocery/drug store. This should help!
ditto!
Chloe loves chapstick (well, not really, she tries to rub it off on the carpet and furniture LOL) but it is great for chapped bully noses too!

I've used Aquaphore on Stella's nose for years
And she licks some off every time - and no harm done.

If you are concerned, you could always get him a good lip balm for humans. Like a blistex or something really powerful.
Or... I could just go over and kiss him on the lip. Of course, that might not help him, but I'd be willing to try!
We use either
bagbalm or regular people chapstick. Just rub it in as much as possible, they lick but it still helps and won't hurt. =D

We use bagbalm on lips nose and pawpads. It works great.

Ah yes, bag balm...good stuff!
Works great on the pads of the feet.
Thank you all for your quick responses and advice...
We will try the lip balm or aquaphor tonight since we have both of those at home. Also, Ajax says that kisses are always welcome
