Histiocytoma came "open"...

Ajax has a histiocytoma on his head, behind his eye. The vet has us applying a cortisone cream to the area twice a day and keeping an eye on it. He said that it may go away on its own. If not, he will remove it when Ajax goes in for his neuter and stenotic (sp?) nares surgery later this summer. Last night, we went to a cookout and brought Ajax to play with our friend's dogs. Sometime during the playing (which was not rough), his histiocytoma began to bleed. We stopped the bleeding (there wasn't much) and have been applying Neosporin to prevent it from becoming infected. Are we handling this situation correctly, or are there any additional steps we should take? We are leaving for vacation on Thurs. evening (returning Sunday night) and Ajax is staying with relatives. Although they will have the vet's number, I would like to make sure all of his medical issues are taken care of before we leave.

Dozer's just getting over his hemocytoma

And it wason his leg, it broke open a couple of times and we had the vet give us some keflex to prevent infection in it from getting worse. Its almost totallt healed now and looks better.

Agree...he should be fine.

If you're really concerned about it bleeding while you're gone, consider putting some Liquid Bandage over the irritated bump and that may help protect it from bruising. Band-aid brand as well as others offer something that is relatively easy to apply, and it will wear off naturally after a couple washings. happy.gif
