HELP puppy ate toxic grapes
Submitted by admin on April 21, 2010 - 12:06amHi my puppy ate grapes and I just found out they are toxic to some dogs. She is 9wks 9 lbs. I think she ate 2 at the most. Found it in her vomit this morning.
Anyone know of what I can do until I get her to the Vet. It was suggested I give her Pedilite & activated charcoal-- where do you get that? Is it safe?

I can't imagine 2 grapes doing any harm but I would call the emergency vet and ask them. Grapes can cause kidney failure. Good Luck

She should be fine.
Its the seeds in the grapes that can be toxic but two of them shouldn't be that bad...plus you said she spit them up. You should know, however, that 1-2Tbsp of peroxide orally can cause vomiting so if your pup swallows something that she shouldn't...and it isn't something caustic...then you can get her to "give it up" shortly thereafter. When in doubt, keep this number near your phone! ASPCA Animal Poison Control Hotline: 1-888-426-4435.

DO NOT GIVE CHARCOAL to vomit....your pup is not at deaths door 2 grapes will not shut the kidneys down unless your dog already has kidney failure....puppies are amazing thier system if healthy can survive alot...
so its ok...go on as normale...
wilson when he was 12 weeks ate a 1/2 lb bag of m&m and yes he had awful dirrhea...and yes he threw up a few times....but he is fine....i with held food for 24 hrs... and put him back on his raw....
