Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated on what best gets rid of fleas. My Chowder is mostly indoors and my cat is 100% indoors, and they both have fleas. We live in a condo and apparently, my neighbor downstairs is having the same problem. The beginning of the month, when I first noticed the fleas, I put them both on Advantage, then shampood my carpets. The next day, I still noticed fleas on Chowder, and every day after that. I've given him a few baths and powdered my carpets on Saturday. Still I have fleas in the house. My next step is to bomb the house this weekend, with a flea bomb, not a real bomb.
Please HELP!!! I'm going NUTS with the fleas. My poor baby is sick of me picking at him, because I can't pet him without searching for fleas and trying to pick them off of him. I'm at my wits end.

We just ordered
Adams Flea & Tick Spray for Onslow. He's on Frontline + but we do a lot of hiking so it will be great for that. Helen Devicentes (sp?)recommended it and I really value her advice. She also said it smells good which is another +.
If they are infested in the house you are probably going to have to bomb it to kill them all. I hate those nasty little buggers and hope you get it under control.
Is there any chance the basement of your building is dirt? They love the dirt....maybe they are rising up from there?

recently there was alot of posts about....
the BDW members that give their dogs fresh garlic in their meals. It seems that fleas hate garlic so it works on getting rid of them.

I had read that you can use regular Dawn dish detergent, diluted, on the dogs to rid them of the fleas. You do not wet the dog, just apply the soap while the dog is dry and leave on for a few minutes. It seems that the substance that "gets the grease out" also breaks down a flea's waxy outside and kills them.
Good luck. I would speak with the Super of your building, or the board, about the problem just in case the problem is in the building itself due to an untreated animal living there.
This is what we do
We "bomb" the house and while we are outside, we give the dogs capstar to get rid of all the fleas they have on them. Then, after we go back inside, we treat the yard.

Lisa....haha.....I knew who you were talking about....
even with the way off spelling. Some people just stand out to me.....and Helen is one of them!

No Problem as long as I do not get called late for dinner LOL

I apologize about
your name spelling in my post.. Boy was I way off! Sorry about that.....

This sounds great especially if it doesn't harm the animals, only the fleas

For a house infestation get Sevin Dust 5% at Lowes or Home Depot
using an old flour sifter dust it all over the house floors and rugs making sure you get near the baseboards. Let it stay overnight and sweep it up in the morning. This is what flea powder used to be made from and it really works . It cannot hurt the dogs or cats but I personnally would keep them in a crate for the night.
This also works in the yard but there you can just leave it, fleas and ticks can be in the grass and on bushes so even if you get rid of them in the house you can bring them back in.
Farm stores I believe also carry it.
