Heartworm?

I got a letter from my vet that Gunther was due for standard heartworm test and treatment. He is a year and a half. They also said it was not mandatory, our decision..

What should we do?

Jackie, heartworm has nothing to do with

vaccinations. The test is a bloodtest to check for the heartworm. If none are present, a once a month tab is given as a prevention. The treatment for heartworm is long and stressful for the dog which is the reason that I choose to use the prevention.

Lots of info on the internet about heartworm.

Nothing...

He is taking nothing now. I seem to remember when he had his first shots after we got him when he was 2 months they gave us stuff to put on his skin once or twice. I really don't know if that was heartworm or not.
