laryngeal paralysis....i have researched the condition and know that half the dogs pass after the surgery from inhalation pneumonia.... plus the cost is outrageouse...
has anyone done just supportive care...if you have what did you do....and were you comfortable...any info would be helpful....thanks...
Gwen my friends dog had this problem
I will call her and see what to do. Quincy just passed after battling this for two years. I know that she had to keep him calm and out of the heat, they used to go for short walks, let him pace himslef. I will get ahold of her today, maybe you can email her . I'll ask.

thanks it is a tough call.....
i need to look at supportive care because she has a heart problem...surgery is just not for us....my holistic vet wants to try accupuncture which we will do...in a couple of weeks or she will come over to the house....
i hope your friends dog does well the sooner and younger the better....

Hugs to you & Gwen!!
I'm glad your vet knew the difference...my friend had to see 3 different vets before given the correct diagnosis...all that after spending 2 overnights at the emergency vet.
Hopefully the supportive care you want to do will work. I'm sure someone on here can give great advice on suggestions for you.

it is laryngeal paralysis....
gwen is 9 yo and unlike platte problems the throat cannot close....she had a bad espiode after a car ride and got herslef all excited...once she started to pant and pull air in it was not possible...we could only sedate her to break the cycle....she is very exercise intolerant...going down three stairs and to the end of the yard to potty she has problems....but as long as she stays calm she can breath.....
the surgeon who looked at her...is very respected in knowing throat and airway problems....he is even the one who explained the after problems of the surgery...he does not feel at her age it would be possible to do it safely.....gwen is a rescue so she really never recieved all the health care she should of gotten.....
but thanks for the input....

My friend's St Bernard had this in April
They weren't sure what was wrong the dog, thought it had heart failure, but then realized what it was. She did have surgery in April & the dog still has some breathing problems.
Was your bully diagnosed w/this? If so, was it a bully vet who did the diagnosis? Just want to make sure it's not really the palette that's causing the problems.

How did this condition come about?
Has it been confirmed by an independent "second opinion" vet???
