Hard Belly

Bella has had a rough couple weeks, now I fear something else is wrong. Two weeks ago we took her to Butchko for a skin problem and she was given prednisone and a couple more drugs. This past Wed. we took her to a closer vet for a infected anal gland which ruptured at the vet office. She was given rimadyl and cephalxin. Her problem now is we noticed day before yest. that she had drank A LOT of water that night. I know that the steroid gives them thirst and hunger issues so I didnt think much of it, especially since its been quite warm in so cal. But the next am she looked like she had swallowed a bowling ball. She has been pooping normal, playing normal, sleeping, and eating normal. She has had gas and burping but not retching or spiting and she has no problem sleeping or getting comfortable, but her stomach just seems to be hard and extended. I have given her gas x and tums to no relief its still hard and she is still farting ALOT. Is this something that needs a vet visit this morning? I was going to give him a call anyway but wanted to see if anybody else may have experienced this with their dogs or maybe the meds? Thanks in advance for your replies

Take her to Dr. Butchko if you can, this is not normal for a dog

Or get her back to your local vet. Definitely needs to be seen pronto I believe.

I myself, would take her in

I had a dog bloat, and while you description doesn't sound like bloat, Iwould want to be sure, and if she had that much gas, sh'e got to be uncomfortable.  I always go to be sure, but then again, my vet bill was $5,000.00
