Grade 3 heart murmur

We will be taking in a 6 week old pup with a grade 3 heart murmur.  Has anyone ever had a pup with a murmur of this degree and what were the results.  We have an appointment with a cardiologist on the 9th but I'm just trying to get as much information as possible.

i would never grade a 6 wk pup

that is way to young to say a pup has a heart problem... at  this age their hearts beat faster...add in the stress of shots car rides...new people new places.....sorry but i would ingore that unless the puppy has collasped....is retaining fluid...or has any other physical signs of heart failure

Heart Murmur

Our Fifi Trixie Belle was diagnosed with a heart murmur at a week old. She was not able to nurse or suck. The vet suggested putting her down, as it was so bad. We had already lost two other pups from the same litter, and didn"t want to lose her. Thats when I found this site. Others suggested if we could get her to three to six months that there was a good chance she would out grow it. The Vet gave us a pump and hose to insert into her stomach to feed her. We fed her this way for three months and she did out grow it and ended up running circles around our other two bulldogs.

my 5 1/2 month old was diagnosed

at 7 weeks with a grade 3 while he was still at the breeders, so there was no stress involved of car rides, new family, etc. I took him to the cardiologist when I got him home after having the murmur confirmed by my own vet. He has severe pulmonic stenosis that is not able to be operated on. Like I said he is 5 1/2 months and weighs in at 31 pounds and is a very active, wild puppy. Apparently he never got the memo that he has a bad ticker and needs to take it easy LOL!! Hopefully your pup's condition won't be as severe as Sebastian's and will be either out grown or treated with meds.
