my 13 year old kelpie gabby has been throwing up since yesterday afternoon. she did have a quarter of of a plain mcdonalds hamburger and maybe like 2 chicken nuggets (my husband can't resist)... then we had a bbq with alot of people with alot of spicy and garlicy food, but we didn't feed her anymore human food because i knew she had an upset stomach... but i wonder if someone else did or if she ate like a jalapeno or chicken wing bone that fell on the ground. i don't think anyone else fed her anything but i can't be sure.
she had a little diarhea last night , she is not lethargic, she is walking fine, and doesn't appear depressed or sick in any other way, she has been eating her meals completely... but then within about an hour , she will puke it all up, along with bile.
i will try to just feed her some rice with turkey for a while and see... or should i just feed plain rice.... should i try tums or pepto? if so , how much?
i am worried that this is something more then upset tummy because of her age. :(
i will take her to the vet tmrw morning if this keeps going on... is this a sign of pancreatitus?
thanks for any help!
happy memorial day!!
sincerely, christine
Hard to say
I would stop feeding her and give her tummy a break. Yes, I would take her to the vet as soon as you can. Given her age and all that she ate yesterday it would be good to get her checked out just to be on the safe side. I would let her have water unless she vomits that up. Then take it away and let her rest for a while then if she looks for water in a couple of hours try it again.

Is she pooping normally?
If she DID get into a chicken bone or something similar, she could have a blockage. If she is still throwing up tomorrow morning, take her on in to the vet. You don't want to chance it being more than an upset tummy at her age.

thanks... she hasn't pooed since last night
gabby has stopped throwing up food, hallelujah! ... i gave her rice with a little turkey wet food for lunch, and dinner, then with a little kibble for late dinner (i feed her only half cup meals x4 a day to help control her puking bile issues)... she seems ok, gums still nice and pink, no loss of energy or appetite... but her last poo was last night and a little diarrehea-ish... i am hoping that she is just a little constipated from all the rice... i will give her more wet food/less rice in the morning to see if it will help her poo... if she doesn't poo by late afternoon, i will probably give the vet a call.. since gabby is usually like a 3poop a day kinda girl!
thank for everyone's help... i will be on poo watch 2010 all day tmrw, and let you know.. :)
