food allergies
Submitted by JennyAndBruce on April 21, 2010 - 12:05ami posted a blog about bruce and his food issues a few days back (maybe you saw it ).. and i just printed the ingredients from royal canin bully formula , blue buffalo chicken and rice puppy and blue buffalo treat that i used to give him ..... ever since i put him on rc bully his pop went from liquid to solid in only 2 days !
im now trying to compare the ingredients and cross the ones out that are present in all 3 foods !
left over are only the ones that are part of the blue buffalo products ;
in both blue products :
barley,rye and carrots
only in puppy food :
potatoes/sweet potatoes , fish meal , tomato pomace , blueberries , cranberries ,flaxseed , barley grass , parsley ,alfalfa meal and kelp meal .
does anyone know if there are known allergies/ intolerance`s known (in bullys )to any of these ingredients ?!

Done it, it worked
We've done the blood test multiple times, and then done the desensitizing routines and it was really worth it.
I was totally wrong about what foods they were allergic to.
And knowing that they're allergic to maple trees means I can keep the falling maple leaves picked up and same myself a lot of grief.

Dozer's allergies
When we got Dozer's allergy results back, he was only allergic to 5 foods so I thought it would be so easy to find him a food. Wrong! He must be allergic to the most common ingredients in dog food. Our local pet store only carries 2 foods that he can eat. There were others we could special order, but he seemed to like the white fish and sweet potato so we stuck with it. Good luck. I know how hard these allergies are to deal with!

The Vet draws a sample of the dogs blood and sends it to a lab to be tested for various things like foods, grasses, etc.

Allergies vary greatly from dog to dog
So what works for one dog, may not work for another. I've just recently had one of my dogs tested for allergies. I should have the results in a week or two and when I get the results, I will share them with everyone. Interestingly, someone told me, their dog was allergic to blueberries.
