Female with short cycle
Submitted by hezzbullies on April 24, 2010 - 1:32amDoes anyone have experience with short cycles? Bred my girl last time on days 11 & 13 and didn't get her, I knew we had waited too late. (no progesterone testing)
This time I decided to test her and do so early, she started on the 7th. Vet could do the test Fri/Sat but wouldn't get results until Tuesday, so I waited and took her in this morning (Mon).
I won't find out her levels until tomorrow, but he felt upon examination that she was ready and her cytology was almost completely cornified.
Yesterday, she didn't have any d/c and today only noticed a drop or two. Vet recommended to breed her 3 days in a row due to the short cycle. Does that sound right?

yes, i have had them with a progesterone spike on day 3
of blood. and it was 17.5, we breed 26hrs after blood draw and did 3 days in a row. 4 puppies, 1 girl and 3 boys

Update
I'm glad I waited until Monday to test her, she was 2.5ng. We bred the following night(Tues), Thursday and Friday. We used fresh so that should cover her, I hope. I figure she ovulated Tuesday, so optimal breed time would be Thurs-Friday. Time will tell, keeping our fingers crossed.
