feet going brown
Submitted by Sherryl Onslow ... on April 21, 2010 - 12:07amOnslow keep licking his feet, and now what once were white feet are now brown. The root of his nails have gone very dark brown too. Is this just dirt (it doesn't come of with washing with a wash cloth) os it something else?

Brown Feet
This is probably caused from the food that they are eating. Years ago we had a bitch with beautiful white feet and she started licking and her feet turned brown. At the time she was on one of the Eukanuba foods and there was some ingredient that reacted with her saliva and then when she licked the feet, they turned brown, same with the tear stains. We changed foods back then to Eagle Pack and that went away.
I am sorry that I cannot tell you which ingredient is the culprit, but perhaps a food change would help the situation.
Currently I have my dogs on Natural Balance Fish and Potato and there is no brown. Our last 2 were both solid white and were on Natural Balance Duck and Potato, and never any brown and no tear stains.

Try soaking the feet in the tub with about 2 gallons water add 1

It's probably a stain. The dogs eat their dog food and then lick their feet and the food causes the stain. Either that or it could be yeast.

I was going to ask teh exact thing about Sophia's feet.
Hers are doing the same, exact thing, nails and all:-(.
