Eye problem..... Please help!!!!!!!!
Submitted by Anonymous on April 20, 2010 - 9:22pmI came home today and noticed that Fonzie's eyeball was red.... The white of his left eye was swollen... almost seemed as if it there was a circle around the brown portion of his eye? Should I take him to the vet? I don't think it's cherry eye but I'm not sure.... please help!!!!

It certainly shouldn't hurt to flush the eye
with saline or just plain artificial tears (that's what saline is)but NOT any product that says "gets the red out" because that can irritate an already-irritated eye. The redness could be superficial, such as with allergies, or could be hemmorhage as with something more serious so I would have the vet check him tomorrow for sure...weekend coming up!
Eye problem
Sounds like it could be an allergy - my eyes get that way with bad allergens, and I saw it with a dog once, too. Try flushing with saline. If it doesn't look better in the am, give the vet a call.

Cherry eye is in the lower lid area of the eye. It sounds as if your dog may have scratched his eye.
It doesn't sound like cherry eye...
I would take him in, eye problems can deteriorate quickly and cause a lot of damage.
