Dry Eye Medication Question

My Carmine is 10 and 1/2 years old. He was diagnosed with dry eye over 2 years ago and has been on optimmune 2x per day. I have been noticing his eyes now are getting gooey when he wakes up in the moring. Could it be that the meds are not working anymore or he has developed any allergy towards it? I made an appointment with a specialist on Thursday, but was wondering if any of you has had a similar experience?

Re: Dry Eye Medication Question

There may be other medications that can be used in conjuction with the optimune. My old guy used to have eye drops, and was on a regimine that included the optimune, and also tacrolimus. He hasn't been on them in a while. What would happen with him is at certain times of the year, his one eye would become swollen starting an ulcer ( I think it was d/t pollens/allergens) put him on the meds it would clear up.
