Coughing/hacking up?

My Cleo is coughing, but it is more of a hack than a cough. She only does it when she gets a little excited. She hacks up some white stuff or if she just ate she will throw up a little. Is this something I need to take her to a vet for? She has been doing it for several days, just not consistently so I wasn't really worried. This morning she hacked up some white stuff then licked it back up. She doesn't have a temp and acts just fine, eating and playing normally.
Any advice would be appreciated, TIA!

Re: Coughing/hacking up?

Hello, here is a link, below, to a question that I had when Oscar had his Elongated Palate Surgery. I am not saying that this is what it is, just offering some reading on the advice that I got.

Have a good one,
Brian

not a hugh issue....

you just dont want the pup to inhale it back, and the anacids seemed to work great.

Thanks! so....

it is a phlegm problem you think? I was thinking the same thing, but wondered if I should be worried so thought I better ask bulldoggers!
She is my first bulldog and I don't want to run her to the vet at every little thing if it is not a real issue.

i use....

tums or pepcid ac, once a day mostly at night that seems to help with excessive phlegm. why he has it i dont know its not all the time but once in a while and these things help keep it down.
