I posted my concern on the general forum. And it was recommended that I post my questions here in the medical forum. After further review, my post should have been addressed here in the medical forum in the first place :)
I have a very difficult situation. My dog Bob, has a very deep, and sensitive pocket tail that he won't let me come near. And wow! is it challenging. His temperment is so sweet, kind and beyond friendly.
I just fell upon this Bulldog discussion forum the day before yesterday, and most certainly know that we need to go to the vet.
But what I'd like to know is how others have dealt with this problem of their dogs not allowing the pocket to be touched. I won't know until I go to the vet with this problem; but I was wondering if anyone has had their bulldog's tail removed? And, if so, the investment involved, recovery and so forth.
Any help with be appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
"Bob the dog" and Normajean
people will be answering....
you soone their have been a few who have had to do this....if you want you can look in the arhchives... sundays are a little slow....every body out in the sunshine!!!!!
I paid......................
approx. $1400.00 by a specialist. And, it was the BEST decision that I made. I did about 2 years of the trying to clean, powder and antibiotics + vet visit. To no avail. His life was miserable and I was at my wits end. He was getting upset and nervous.
Immediately after it was done, My Archie was a totally different boy. I would recommend this highly. Good luck and I hope this helps..........
you had his tail removed?
It cost $1400.00. I just got back form my vet, who isn't a specialist but he does own bulldogs and everyone who has a bulldog goes to him. He gave me a quote to have Jackson's tail removed at $300.00.
we just pd $525.00 that was surgery, anesthesia and
pain meds and antibiotics...

not just my bulldogs, but my heart & soul!!
Cost me about $700...ouch!
But it was the best $700 ever b/c Emma is so happy without that tail of hers. =) We had it done several years ago.
