Canine Herpes Virus

What are the signs and symptoms in newborn puppies? How long after birth could and would this affect the puppies.

Does the bitch have to exposed to it WHILE pregnant?

Any experience with it? Thanks! Jeri

herpes

We have loss an entire litter with herpes. We re-vaccinate as soon as the bitch comes into heat now. No matter how long since the last vaccine. This was recomended by the state university we sent the puppies to find thier cause of death.

Sorry...

the questions you asked seemed to indicate otherwise. Didn't mean to be simplistic. I haven't had personal experience...

The primary treatment is to keep the pups VERY warm. The virus can't live at high temperatures (between 95 and 100 degrees in the warming box.)
