I had a cat with a similiar prob..
and it turned out to be from a spider bite. I would take him to the vet and get antibiotics and while he was being treated it would heal and look great and within 2 weeks of stopping the meds it would come back and swell up and then pop and drain. It was so gross because it would get really infected looking and what not. I only took this cat to the vet a few times and the vet said it would not get any better but he never really said why and i couldnt afford the medical treatment to investigate it deeper. I was only 16 at the time and it was an outdoor cat. So when he started getting paticularly ill from it the vet suggested we euthanize and so i figured that would be the best option for this poor cat.

Not sure Phyllis.
I would take him in for a vet visit. May be a staph infection of some sort? Hope you find an answer!

Embedded Spear Grass? I had a Shih-Tzu...
and he had a piece of spear grass embedded between two of his toes. It would swell up very large, pop, then drain. I was sitting with him in my lap one day and noticed that it was in the swelling stage, I started gently putting pressure on it and it popped open with force. I could see something sticking out of the hole, so I squeezed it with more force and a nasty piece of spear grass shot out! The spear grass had softened due to the fluid and appeared to be rotting/disentigrating but it was still a piece of well formed spear grass. Consequently, because of its shape, it would have never come out without lancing or squeezing. I cleaned the site with peroxide for a couple of days...it healed and never bothered him again.

Re: Can you look at this please...............
If he were mine and it keeps coming back I would take him to an animal dermatologist. They deal with all kinds of skin issues, lumps, bumps etc. From personal experience, they would probably be able to nip it in the bud. Good luck with this.
