calming herb/supplement???

Hi, Mack's 10 yr old Bichon mix "sister" Coco is beginning to act a bit senile, barks at nothing, nervous for no reson, stressed in a calm enviroment. Our house is nothing if not calm! Both kids are at school and Mack is as laid back as they come! she is healthy otherwise, is there a natural herb supplement to ease her worries?? I know the vet can prescribe doggie valium, but I'd like to try something less severe first.

When I used a holistic vet, he recommended Melatonin for Floyd..

when we went away to my MIL's. It worked, made him calmer and he would actually sleep.

I also used, in the car on the way up there, Lavender scents since it is calming.

Hope this helps...I have a 10 year old Min-Pin who is the same. Yapping almost constantly about NOTHING! I never thought about herbs to calm her but it is a very good idea.
