Bump on puppies head?

We sold a female pup who had a small red bump about the size of a pea on top of her head between her ears. I asked my vet and he said it was nothing to worry about that he has seen it many times and in most cases it will go away on its own. The owner contacted me today and said that it has grown bigger and is scabbing over. Is this a sebaceous cyst or something worse?

Thanks,
Shawna

Re: Has any medication been applied to this?

I don't know if you saw the picture I posted as anonymous, but here is what the bump [looks like. I forgot to answer your question though. No, as far as I know the new owner has not put any medication on it.

Re: Has any medication been applied to this?

Like I said when I took the pup to my vet. he said it was normal in pups and would do no harm. The lady I sold her too said that it has grown bigger and is bleeding with a scab almost like it is a pimple or cyst that has burst open. None of the other pups in the litter or dogs in my house have any other spots like it. She is taking the pup this week for her 9 weeks shot and is going to have the vet take a look at it again.

Re: Picture of Bump

From what I understand it does not have any puss that is bleeding and has a scab almost like it is a cyst or pimple and has popped open. The lady I sold her too is nit picking every little thing and I am about to tell her I will give her, her money back.

Re: Picture of Bump

is it sort of red, a little hard, but no yellow pus? if it is, it's a pimple and the vet should prescribe clamavox, it should do down in a few days to a week. My dog had that when he was a puppy. for some puppies you would get small little pimples on the head for others, you get only one pimple that would grow big.

Has any medication been applied to this?

Has the vet just looked at it, or actually done a scraping or drawn a needle-biopsy of the lump? If its growing, that is what I would ask my vet about...taking a needle-biopsy and examining it under the microscope will tell you whether it is filled with pus = infection, or just normal fluids = cyst of some sort; and of course anytime there is spread of a sore on the head/neck I begin to think maybe "mange" ?? Another vet visit may be in order, and ask lots of question.

Picture of Bump

I found a picture of her. This is what it looked like when I sold her.

Its not something that would cause me great concern

and I think having the vet check it at the same time the pup is bring brought in for vaccination is a perfect schedule...its not bleeding as you said, its not interferring with breathing or movement and therefore it can wait a few days for further examination, IMO.
