Bulldogs and Allergies-New member
Submitted by goatheaven on May 17, 2010 - 5:48amHi, I am a new member to the group and have a 6 1/2 year old bulldog who was perfectly healthy until she turned 5, then the eye problems, UTI's and skin issues started. I am not new to these problems as my first bulldog lived to be only 6 due to severe allergies etc his whole life. Has anyone else ever just had allergies start after many years of perfect health? Would love some feedback. Thanks
i would like to know....
do you have her on vit c? that is a big help with uti...did you switch foods?? are you using any new detergents for your wash for cleaning her bowls...a new clearner for floors??
their are alot of reasoning for allergies...how is the pollen count in your area....are you having alot of rain???
i would start with 2 bebadryl in the am and pm... and then try to see what has changed in the environment....

Do you give Ester C? Tuffy's breeder had recommended it but I stopped when he started having digestion issues. Maybe I should start again since Tuffy has had skin issues lately!
i use vit c.....
i know alot of people like the ester c.....also and i dont think either one is better than the other....now as for digestive upset....do one 500mg of vit c every other day....if it still bothers his tummy for one every three days till tuffys tummy can handle it.... stay with this for a month till tuffy can handle it... then once very two days then once a day.....i also give a tums before the vit c...this helps my crew with tummy upset...and they tolerate it better in the evening meal....

Today I gave half of a 500 mg capsule and he seemed to do okay. I'll ease him into it as you mentioned until I'm sure he tolerates it well!
