Bulldog Emma spayed

I brought Emma home yesteday from getting spayed. She had the cone collar on her. It was so tight I am sure it was making it hard for her to breath. I know for a fact that she can not reach her belly to lick on it. When she was in heat she never licked herself and she has had hot spots on her belly and never licked them. So I took it off her. The vet told me that I would have to pay for resurgery if she pulled the sutures. Which I guess I expected and would do. I am more afraid of her scratching them with her hind leg or rubbing and catching them on the carpet.
THe vet also said that she can and will lick on them. She was very stern with me. Also Emma vomited during surgery and the vet told me that I fed her which I did not nor did my husband. She also vomited twice after I got her home. But it was yellowish white and mucusy. I am very frustrated about this and any suggestions would be appretiated. I want to do the best thing for her, but feel that I know her best..

Thanks

Thank you for your input. Its very helpful and I have switched vets to remove her surtures and will be looking for another bully vet in the mean time.

your vet is just covering her butt....

you know your dog if she does not need the e collar dont use it....dont tell the vet either....as for the tummy problems...alot of bulldogs vomit during surgery and it does not mean you fed them...your vet was proably worried about the vomit being inhaled but she should of eld off pulling the tube till your dog was breathing on its own....
i would after that surgery give my dog a pepcid ac 1 in the am and 1 in the pm...
feed very lite for the first three days...maybe even go to some brown rice and chicken to let the stomach settle....
dont let your vet bully you (no pun hehehe)....some times i have seen bully vets on the defensive for no reason if they cant take the responsibility that the bulldog like the whippet and greyhound need extra care then dont vet them....

Thank you

Thank you.. I think I may check into another vet. I didn't think that I was wrong, but I want to do the right thing for her.

Did not keep one on Stella either

No way she could reach the stiches

I didn't keep a cone on Roxy..

I took Roxy's cone off as soon as we got to the car after her spay surgery. No way could she reach the stitches. You could put a little shirt on her if you want to make sure she doesn't rub the stitches.

If you didn't feed the dog, then you didn't feed the dog. I'd think about finding another vet with better "people" skills for any future needs.
