Bubba's chest is swollen...

Bubba's chest is kind of swollen and it feels like there is a lump of some sort. It does feel like it is going down over the past 24 hours and I am definitely going to take him to the vet on Tuesday but am kind of freaking out. Does anyone have any idea what this might be? I was considering taking him to the emergency clinic but think it can wait until Tuesday. Thoughts?

Yeah....

That is the age I also get a full blood workup so I and the vet have something to compare it to later when the dog gets older....had Sheltie, Cheers, blood work done at 7....never had to do it again...she had to be put down at 15 1/2 b/c of cancer all over. I am hoping for the same with good old Angie...at 9 she is going strong and still as sweet and bitchy as ever...and still loves to play with her mousy! Now she got Atlas playing with toys again...he'd just as leave sleep I think! She also 'tells' if he gets himself under gate (which we got fixed...they are living with my daughter right now)...she will sit there, staring at the gate and 'rowf' until someone notices she is the only 'good bulldog' that stayed in the yard....of course, Atlas is either sitting in front of the back door or at the front door on their porch!
I hope your baby is fine!

He's been acting a little off the past few days...

but I didn't notice the lump until yesterday. In addition, a few minutes ago he was walking and stumpled on his front right leg but he walked if off and is better. He is 7.5 and I am starting to get that nervous, off my gosh he's getting older, fear. He definitely needs a full check up but I think I'll wait until Tuesday, especially since his chest seems less swollen than last night.

Thanks for the advice and I'll give some of those suggestions a try.

Some questions....

Is he sore when you touch it? Is it loose or hard and attached to bone or muscle...it could be a bruise from runninginto something or an infection or a cyst of some kind. That thing on Atlas that they said immediately was cancerous was benign despite what the first vet said....as long as he does not seem to be in tons of pain I'd wait until Tuesday. I might put cold compresses to see if it goes down or warm ones to see if it comes to a head if it is an infection. Baby aspirin if it hurst him...does it affect his movement or not? If not, I'd just let it be, do maybe some topical ice or warmth and if it hurts baby aspirin at most...Especially if you just noticed it so it hasn't been there very long I would imagine....but I am not a worry wart about my dogs or my kids so I am not one to go running to the vet at the first 'something' out of the ordinary....my kids survived nicely and are healthy 31 and almost 34 year olds...and that included playing in the dirt!
