bloat

saw the post below.
It is not uncommon in bulldogs.
Be aware.

like swimming 30 min......

let them eat rest a bit and then off for a nice walk they should even be ready to poop.... even even ten mins as long as its a walk and not a heavy run....

How long should you wait to walk

How long should you wait to walk them after eating? I usually walk Finn first and feed after but my neighbor sometimes walks him in the morning for me after Finn has eaten.
Reading all this about bloat is making me very nervous.

i had my great danes tacked......

becasue they were showing on a very reg schudule and their is always stress with showing.....both of my danes parents had bloated and so my vet felt they were at a high risk.....it is major surgery and you should think long and hard before just doing it.....i would ask myself why what is their risk will food management take care of the problem.....i now feed raw and feel i dont have the risk i had when feeding kibble (grains)
the danes were 6 months and one year when i did them.....

Re: Do you think it's a good idea to get the stomach tacked?

in some breeds where it is very common, they do that. I dont think necessary in a bulldog, unless they have bloated before.

Do you think it's a good idea to get the stomach tacked?

If the dog is under for surgery anyway such as for a spay? I wish I had thought of it when my girls were spayed.

Maizy had bloat as a puppy

But the last 6 years have been trouble free. I didn't know this was even an option at the time or I probably would have had her stomach tacked when she was spayed.
