If a dog has an upset tummy or the runs (more than just a little bit) it's a good idea to put them on a 24 hr. fast, giving them NOTHING to eat during that time, only small sips of water. After 24 hrs. you can start with a bland diet in SMALL amounts (1/2 c) several times a day--less but more frequent meals (as long as they're handling it ok) That's when you feed the cooked rice with a bit of burger or cooked chicken breast (no seasoning). During the fast and until it clears up you can give them pepto (1 T. or one tablet) several times a day. Immodium or mylanta are also good. Also make sure he doesn't have some sort of parasite or infection/ no temp, etc. Hope he's feeling better soon!

Sweet Potato. Onslow had a bad batch of the runs from his steroids he was on for allergies. He won't eat pumpkin and a breeder friend of mine suggested sweet potato. I cut one in half, poke it and zap in the microwave. Then I just mixed it in with his kibbles (skin and all) and HE LOVES IT and it firmed him right up. I try to go with a natural remedy before anything else. Hope he/she feels better.
You can get it at Amazon. It is totally natural and works like a charm. Tuffy is on it right now because I started giving him his ester-c and he's had the runs. I couldn't figure out why he was pooping in his crate at night (that never happens.) Good luck!
rice doest work for us and neither does pumpkin. if its bad i also give immodium, then do a 24 hr fast as mentioned. when i start back on solids i boil white potatoes and that helps alot. also if you feed kibble you might want to try soaking it for a bit to aid digestion.

Thank you for the suggestions, I too, prefer to try natural
first!
And always Winston, gone but not forgotten!
I use immodium for my guys...
when they get the runs. I also keep some flagyl on hand, that helps stop it quickly along with the bland diet.
Try DiaBac for dogs!
