anyone feed Orijen dog food? it's grainfree

It's a dog food made in Canada, 70% meat, 30% veggies and 0% grain. They had a small trial size I think it was 5 oz, I bought the chicken one and the salmon one and my frenchie who has lots of allergies problems really like this stuff and no hives. Has anyone tried this? here is the website for a description of the food.http://www.orijen.ca/orijen/about/

That's what I feed Jade...

And I love it. She has always been very picky but she loves this food. Her coat looks and feels great. I higly recomend this food but the only "bad part" about it is that they get a lot of gas at first but it is gone within a month. Hope this helps and good luck.

Hmmm, didn't think of that...

I was thinking mange had a discoloration of the skin along with the hair loss, is that not the case? It is a bump until the teeny scab comes off, then the hair comes with it. I will have them do a scraping though. Thank you both for your information, I appreciate it.

hives

look like small bumps that makes the hair sticks out sort of like scales. sometimes mine has red bumps but the hairs do not fall out. I give a benadryl or two and it would be gone. Sometimes they can vomit too. click here to see pics of hiveshttp://www.bestfamilyadvice.com/dog-allergies.html

My frenchie has lots of allergies to food and he would vomit with certain foods but so far with the orijen he is doing great, no hives.

It could also be mange?

The dime size spot made me think mange rather than staph. I would have a scraping done to find the culprit:-)

Hives?

What do the hives look like? Deuce has little random bumps and then they kind of scab and the hair falls out. They are very small, the largest one has been about the size of a dime. Now you make me wonder if it is a food reaction. I was thinking it was a little staph issue going on. He doesn't itch them, they don't seem to bother him at all. We are going to the vet in a few days anyway and I was going to ask him but let me know what your hive experience was like. And anyone else, do you think it could be a food allergy or does it sound more like staph.

i bought both in trial size,

the chicken was gone in a day and no hives or allergies, trying the fish today to see if any hives or not.

thanks.

it's available here in ca. but you can get online also

on the site click on store locations or online stores. When I opened the salmon one, it smelled like fish and not like the stinky smell of dry dog food that says it has salmon on it. Before mine was on TOTW pacific stream, it's okay, but if you compare the smell of this food with the orijen salmon, you will see the difference. thanks for your input.

Don't use it but...

I have heard really good things about it. I know a few people that do use it with their bulldogs. I don't know all their formulas but they seem to all use the Six Fish formula.

When I was investigating Grain free....

I kinda liked this food but it was only available in Canada. But, as it turns out, I also needed low fat and Wellness Core Low Fat was the one I settled for.

I love the grain free for my dogs!

thank you. i started my puppy on it too

they all love it and my frenchie used to have lots of allergy issues and very picky when eating, but he loves this food. with TOTW, he doesn't really like it, and sometimes would vomit. The orijen I noticed makes them very thirsty and yes bad gas in the puppy, but as long as they are all eating and liking it, I don't mind. The older frenchie doesn't have gas, but the puppy sure does. Thanks for replying.
