any ideas?

Just got a call from my bulldog vet about one of my puppies that was placed. His front legs are bowing. She said his growth plates aren't growing properly. Any ideas what can be done besides surgery? He's 4.5 months old. Has anyone tried Fresh Factors? He's on 21% protein food.

agree

Get him off puppy food and onto a good quality adult food. If it is done soon enough hie front legs should straighten out and be ok.
I give my dogs Fresh Factors at every meal as a supplement for joints and coat.

Suggest immediate change of diet to adult food

with lower protein...there are foods designed for "large breed" dogs and that would probably suit this pup best. No surgery...I think that change in diet, moderate exercise and avoidance of jumping on/off furniture, avoid in/out cars, minimal steps, etc. hopefully this pup will turn around by time he is 10-12mos old. While these elbows are bowed, you don't want jarring activity to weaken ligaments in these joints. happy.gif

dog food

He's been on Pedigree small bites since he was 6 weeks old. (21% protein)

The owners are returning him to me tomorrow. Probably better off here anyways because they have 3 young children.
